MISSION STATEMENT
PRESBYTERY OF PUEBLO
Adopted April 18, 1998
The Presbytery of Pueblo, as part of the Body of Christ, is called to:
Learn to live together;
Live to love each other;
Love to serve God and neighbors.
I. LEARN TO LIVE TOGETHER;
A. Goal: The shelter, nurture and spiritual fellowship of the children of God
Values: 1. We seek to be a “learning community” that supports
and provides resources for each other;
2. We strive to create opportunities for spiritual
development and small group sharing.
B. Goal: The maintenance of divine worship
Values: 1. Worship is at the center of our work and is the
framework for our meetings;
2. We strive to provide forms of worship that inspire, inform
and transform.
II. LIVE TO LOVE EACH OTHER;
A. Goal: The preservation of the truth
Values: 1. We believe that Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth and
the Life and commands us to love one another as he loves us;
2. We are committed to the hard work of pursuing the
truth together in love despite our differences, relating to
each other with mutual respect and staying connected even in
the midst of conflict.
B. Goal: The exhibition of the Kingdom of Heaven to the world
Values: 1. We understand that the Kingdom of Heaven has been exhibited
by Christians since the Early Church when the world
exclaims, “See how they love one another!” We strive to live out
that love;
2. We seek to exhibit the peace, unity and purity of the church.
III. LOVE TO SERVE GOD AND NEIGHBORS.
A. Goal: The proclamation of the Gospel for the salvation of humankind
Values: 1. We show that we love God with our heart and soul and mind by
sharing the good news of God’s grace and love in what we say
and do;
2. We are faithful to Christ’s command to “go into all the world”
when we are committed to evangelism, church development and
new church development.
B. Goal: The promotion of social righteousness
Values: 1. We show that we love our neighbors as ourselves when we
seek the same justice for them that we expect for ourselves;
2. We fulfill Christ’s vision of the “Good Samaritan” when we are
committed to mission and ministries of compassion.
