Notes: San Luis Valley/Salida Church Cluster Meeting

July 21, 2007

Gary Weaver

There were minister and elder representatives from all of the churches except La Jara.

A report on La Jara indicated that the Rev. Brian Reeves had resigned effectively July 31, 2007, so both the La Jara congregation and the Reeves are to be held in prayer as each seeks to discern God’s will for their life.  The purpose of this meeting is two-fold: to develop a process for evaluating the mission recipients each year and to consider other mission projects we might work on together.  Several mission projects or programs were suggested and three were agreed upon for 2008.

Motions Made:

?         To notify La Jara of their $5,000 mission grant for 2008 dependent on their involvement with the Church Cluster and cooperation with the Committee on Ministry.

?         To modify the name of the Cluster to include Salida: “SLV/Salida Church Cluster.”

?         To make annual site visits by teams from the Cluster to the mission-receiving projects within the first quarter of 2008 (Jan., Feb., March).  A request form will be sent to each project prior to the visitation with the names of the visitation team indicated.

?         To schedule our 2009 mission requests meeting for Saturday, April 5, 2008, 10:00-noon, at the United Presbyterian Church of Antonito.

Site Visitation Teams:

?         Antonito: Tex Russell and Charles Goff

?         San Pablo: Dick Spinner and Robbie Hanna

?         La Jara: Dale Powell and Jim Boyd

?         La Puente: Brian Caselles and Hilary Downs

Mission Projects and Mission Teams for 2008:

  1. Pulpit Exchange Sunday Series: Dale Powell, Ray Perez, Tom Templeton
  2. Spiritual Gifts Bank (i.e. preachers, teachers, musicians, etc.): Robbie Hanna, Tex Russell, Theodora (“Teddy”) Madrid
  3. Annual Cluster Event (not on Sunday mornings): Dick Spinner, Hilary Downs, Charles Goff

The meeting adjourned with intercessory prayers and the Lord’s Prayer.
